Comparing Documents in Microsoft Office Word 2007


Microsoft Office 2007 has proved its usability in several day-to-day tasks. Like all previous versions of Microsoft Office, this version helped people a lot in dealing with our everyday work in a better and simpler manner. People with different levels of proficiency use Microsoft Office every day, most of them are not aware with advanced features of Microsoft Office. Apart from simpler user interface, easy accessibility and all other useful features of previous versions of Microsoft Office, there are several unique features in this version of Microsoft office. I’ll try to provide some insights of Microsoft Office products in my current series of articles. Les start with some best features of Microsoft Office Word 2007.

Comparing Documents in Previous Versions of Microsoft Office Word
In past we have experienced the need for a compare tool, which could make the comparison of two documents easier. Previous versions of Microsoft Word provided a feature "compare side by side." It has the facility of synchronized scrolling for easy view of both documents simultaneously. It was really a great help while editing two documents or reviewing the changes made in a documents.

Comparing Documents in Microsoft Office Word 2007
Microsoft Office Word 2007 simplified the meaning of word processing. The editing, review and comparison of documents was never so easier. Now, Microsoft Office Word 2007 users have a feature called 'Compare', with options to Compare and Combine the changes made in two documents. Users can access this feature under Review Section of command ribbon (appearing on top of Microsoft Office Word 2007 window).

When you select the Compare option to compare two different version of same document, you have to select original document and revised document. There are different "Comparison Settings" that you can select according to your preferences. You can save the changes in either original document, revised document, or a new document.

The feature to Compare and Combine documents in Microsoft Office Word 2007 has changed the whole process of editing and reviewing documents. Now with Compare feature, it is very easy to find the difference in two versions of documents just with a fair look over them.
